Dog

Ninkaasi was the Sumerian goddess of beer.  We thought it was a good name for our dog.  She doen't much care for beer, though.

Here she is shortly after we brought her home.  We visited the local Humane Society a few times, then when this 6-month old "stray" showed up, we knew she was the one!

Update 9/15/2000

Here's some new 'kaasi pics:

When we were out of town, our backyard neighbors were dogsitting - they faked her out
by telling her there was a bunny in our backyard!  No fair - only say bunny if there really is one!

Here's the world famous fighter pilot (oops, sorry wrong dog)... here's 'kaasi this summer - she
finally broke through from just chasing squirrels to actually catching one.  This one (see it about
two thirds of the way up the tree along it's centerline) got tossed three times before it escaped and
jumped into our hawthorne tree.  'Kaasi kept it there all day!  She kept pretending to see something
across the yard, and run halfway across like she's chasing something else, then run back to
catch the squirrel when it tries to jump.  The rodent was too scared though - I finally took her
for a walk to give the poor squirrel a chance to escape.  She caught a few more this summer
before the squirrels finally smartened up and went to other people's bird feeders!

Here's a comfy looking dog!
